Unfortunately, there isn’t too much English fruit in season this October. Our farms are currently harvesting Marjoree seedling Plums, Conference pears, Comice Pears. Rhubarb, Bramley Apples, Russet Apples and Cox Apples. We are very pleased with the Cox Apples being harvested as they are delicious, with a rich flavour and a good bite to them. Known for their intense flavour, our Marjoree seedling Plums will be reaching the end of their season this month, so be sure to make the most of them whilst you can.

Our brassicas are thriving this month at our farms, this month we have a large variety being harvested including Savoy Cabbage, Spring Cabbage, Red Cabbage. Hispi Cabbage. Black Cabbage (Cavolo Nero), Stem Broccoli, Cauliflower, Romanesco and Purple sprouting Broccoli. Our root veg is also looking superb this month, in particular our turnips, beetroot and celeriac. All the above are great winter vegetables perfect for those winter stews, soups and bakes!

This month we are also seeing an abundance of everyone’s October favourite, Squash and Pumpkins! Whether you are planning to simply carve or cook your pumpkins, our farms are harvesting a mixture of sizes to suit all. Along side our pumpkins, we have plenty of autumnal squashes being harvested, including Acorn Squash, Harlequin Squash, Kabocha Squash and Onion Squash.
